Shangri-La Atitlan started out as a small, rustic farm roaster in 2013. The popularity of our coffee encouraged us to upgrade our equipment in 2016 and turn our hobby and part time operation into a professional coffee processing and roasting company. The rise in quantity enabled us to increase the quality. None of the less it remains an artesenal, handcrafted and personal product with high ethical standards.
We source our Atitlan coffees directly from the local farmers and process from Cherrie to roasted bean in our own factory to guarantee high quality and consistency and to make sure the farmers receive a fair price for their coffee. We also support 2 amazing communites by roasting and marketing their coffee: The womens-cooperative of Maya Ixil from Quiche. Their coffee is USDA certified organic and Fair Trade certified. And the Mayan permaculture communitiy of Quixaya. We roast our coffee on an imported industrial drum roaster in small batches.”
“We specilize in catering to our immediate neighborhood and to hotels and restaurants all over Guatemala. We offer bulk packages and zero waste return barrels. We offer to roast the coffee beans light to Medium or medium dark to dark and if wanted grind your coffee to any level desired. We will provide the coffee exactly as you prefer it- every time. Our high quality pre printed coffee packs are for retail to the end consumer.
Despite coffee we deal with Tahini, a superfood we are passionate about and a branch of our business that we are looking to put more focus on in the future.
We also bake bread every morning and make Jam from local fruits for our small factory outlet and Cafe Circles.
We are cooperating with other local producers like Atitlan organics, Love Probiotics, La Colmena and Strongbee just to mention a few. We promote all local products at our factory outlet store.
We are hoping to make the world a better place by providing high quality local products to our local market. Think global, act local has been our motto since day one.
